Cala Coticcio
On Caprera, which is among the largest islands in the La Maddalena archipelago, is hidden a veritable corner of paradise where nature reigns supreme.
This is Cala Coticcio, which many also know by another very evocative name.
It is often called “Little Tahiti” or even “Sardinian Tahiti” because of its resemblance to the beautiful Polynesian beaches.
The cove is surrounded by the reddish rocks of the mountain and the water is so transparent that floating on it one has the impression of being suspended in nothingness.
So beautiful as to seem unreal, this beach resort actually consists of 2 beaches and both are unmissable.
The beaches of Cala Coticcio
There are actually two coves in Cala Coticcio. The first, larger, is the one you come across first if you arrive by land.
The second, smaller and even less frequented, is the more iconic one.
When you find photos online, they usually refer to the second cove, which, although the most iconic, is also the least frequented.
If you reach it, you double your win: a unique experience and a beach to enjoy in total relaxation.

By land, on the other hand, there is a very special route to reach this magical place.

Once you arrive on the island of Caprera by ferry, continue by car to the car park at the start of the trekking route.
The walk takes about 45 minutes and it is necessary to undertake it together with an Environmental Hiking Guide.
It is in fact a walk not recommended for those who have difficulty walking or knee problems, and it’s unthinkable to undertake it with buggies or bicycles.
In fact, although most of the route is quite accessible, there are some points that are rather critical.
In particular, it’s a downhill walk: we are talking about a difference in height of 60 metres with few handholds, and on the way back you will have to walk uphill.
It must be said, however, that it’s definitely worth it!
To best tackle the road to a real piece of paradise, there are some accessories that will make everything more comfortable.
Must-have equipment:

Arriving from the trekking route you will reach the first cove. You can already stop here and enjoy a unique, unparalleled spectacle.
Don’t forget: to get there, contact an environmental excursion guide.
Beyond the rocks, however, you can reach the second cove, the smaller one and also the most iconic.
